[identity profile] lim.livejournal.com: Metafandom is changing

You've probably noticed some things are different around here. After a lot of discussion, we've decided to change the way we compile and post metafandom entries.

We have switched to using a shared del.icio.us account, instead of using shared community memories, to collect links. Each day, the new post data are gathered and posted to a journal using a script. We collect this automatically coded entry, eyeball it (for mistakes, repeats, and that fisting story I meant to save privately, dammit) and post it to the community. This saves us an enormous amount of labour time; time we can now, we hope, put to use finding more content from a broader range of journals.

We will most likely post shorter updates daily, rather than extremely long updates on our current alternating-day, fortnightly-repeating schedule.

We will not be grouping posts into categories with a heading, but instead be using tags to indicate focus. The tags are fairly broad categories: reading, writing, vidding, etc.

This system is not perfected. We are working on getting the formatting back to:

[livejournal.com profile] username: subject: "brief quote"

[livejournal.com profile] username: subject: "brief quote"

with a single carriage return and without all the additional whitespace. Hopefully that should be fixed in a couple of days. In the meantime, please be patient with us while we iron out the creases.

I realise that some of you will be unhappy with this new format, although some will be very happy to get tags, at last! *g* I must emphasise that this is an extremely labour saving move for us and we have decided that the pros outweigh the cons.
