Conservative not Republican, co-founder not founder.

I was pretty darned close to those facts. And it still won't be seeing my money.

    Wait, so what are you saying? You're *not* going to be buying a Dreamwidth account...? ^_^ I have grasped that by now, honest.

    I have to say I'm curious though-- you decided to boycott a company based on a half-truth that you just "heard" somewhere? And yes, you were "pretty close," but is that usually how you go about it? Decide to boycott first, without actually bothering to do the research and find out the facts before you start spreading rumors?

      I haven't really made up my mind yet, either way, (though I am kind of skeeved by this) but what is exactly the difference between a Conservative who would never vote Democrat and a Republican? I'm not trying to start any wankery here, but I can see loveanddarkness' point.

        Sorry to butt in, but there really is an important difference. I've had my head bit off more than once for calling a Conservative a Republican (apparently this is tantamount to calling them "liberal").

        Examples of self-identified "Conservative, but not Republicans" include Sean Hannity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sean_Hannity) and Michael Savage (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Savage_(commentator)). Savage lists the differences between Republican and Conservative on his site, but I'm not going to link to it and give him hits. You can find it easily, if you are interested.

        The issue I'm really curious about is the strong Conservative position against pornography. (I believe porn will still be allowed on DW, though. I haven't heard otherwise.)

          He actually sounds more libertarian, than anything else, and there is a very large difference between a libertarian and a Republican.

          As for what's the difference? I'd say this:

          I disagree with Denise on just about every major thing there is. Really.

          Except the one that matters: everybody's right to be who they want to be, believe what they want to believe, and the imperative that we all respect that.
