General
[livejournal.com profile] vampirefan - Universal cracking down on Serenity stuff - well, universal has finally gotten around to stopping fans from
selling serenity stuff... but they are being really harsh. not even sending a polite initial request to stop.

[livejournal.com profile] anthimaeria - If I Were A Slash Queen - I think written sex should tell a story, and the story's gone when it's just about two bodies copulating.

[livejournal.com profile] bookworm1225 - Sounding off on MiSTings - Readers of MiSTings want to be entertained, not become frustrated along with the MiSTer.

[livejournal.com profile] conriya - Writing - I don't know how to win when creating a whole new world and wanting to be diverse in my races. Any suggestions?

[livejournal.com profile] wychwood - through light projected - I was thinking about covers for fanfiction stories. They seem to be a lot more common in SGA than in other fandoms I've encountered; I've made a few, and seen a lot more, and I'm always interested to see what people use for them, what images they employ.

[livejournal.com profile] elspethdixon in [livejournal.com profile] fanficrants- Bonfire of the Digital Vanities - Yes, it's possible for you to have your pages excluded from/removed from the Wayback Machine, but just because you can use robots.txt doesn't mean you should, unless there are pressing legal reasons. I personally find it more than just annoying. I've come to realize, as I searched for a particular author's fic this evening with steadily mounting irritation, that I actually find it offensive.

[livejournal.com profile] veejane - Linguistic Sleuthing - Something Awful is reputed to have picked up a specific sentence, im in ur base killing ur doods, at some point early in this decade. The story is that it was an actual phrase typed by one player to another, then screencapped and put on the web for everyone to mock.

[livejournal.com profile] altoidsaddict - Fanfic and RP, from an outsider. - What perplexes many people who have never or no longer engage in RP or fanfic is this: fanficcers have learned to use the very language of production and consumption for themselves.

Fandom-Specific
Cut for possible spoilers in One Tree Hill and Doctor Who fandoms. )

[livejournal.com profile] iscaris - Write-On-Demand - Except I think this emphasis on rushing out your story and finishing it within a month (or at least, trying to) can be counter-productive, since pushing oneself to write so furiously and copiously may result in the backlash of burnout and/or the dreaded writer's block, or make the writer so frustrated and fed up with the NaNoWriMo story that, even if it's finished or close to completion, they don't want to touch it again for edits or rewrites For A Really Long Time.

[livejournal.com profile] fabu - How do you find fic? - How do you go about finding fic for a new fandom? What difficulties do you encounter in finding the sort of stories you're looking for?
