Perhaps I'm just a jackass for saying as much, but nothing pisses me off quite like finding an interesting meta conversation only to find you can only comment if you have a dreamwidth account. Is it just me who thinks if the link is posted to LJ's metafandom comm, then having an LJ account should be enough to participate in the conversation? IDK. Maybe it is just me.

    If Dreamwidth users can comment, validated OpenID users can also comment at Dreamwidth. You just need to log in as OpenID and validate your e-mail.

      IDK. Maybe it is just me. Possibly not :), but you can use OpenID (http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse?faqid=62) in Dreamwidth, which is better than nothing.

          Other people have mentioned the existence of OpenID, but I'd like to point out LJ treats openID comments like anon for the sake of journal settings, DW treats them as accounts, so with a post at LJ that doesn't allow anon comments and a post at DW with the same setting, the DW post is open to exclusive LJers but the LJ post isn't to exclusive DWers.
