- impertinence: tl;dr my hackles are up - For a very long time now, fandom has tried to balance enjoying problematic (I hate that word, but for the sake of this entry, it means "racist/sexist/homophobic/ableist/classist etc") media with talking about that media, or writing about it. If we look at fandom meta, or at fandom in general, as another kind of media...it gets more complicated. -

cschick: Plagiarism, fandom, and Fanfiction.net - The only next step I see is formalizing that complaint in regards to copyright law--aka, filing a DMCA complaint with fanfiction.net. That concept, obviously, opens up a whole 'nother can of worms. -

1. Are you keeping the disclaimers on your stories when you post?
2. Has anyone started a movement to tag (canon) LGBT characters the way people are tagging Jewish characters and characters of color?

Also, the classic "Japanese people = white people." (Because I'm pissed and don't want to deal with people being clueless, let me say this: racism is based on erasure, genocide and domination of other cultures. Does Japan has a recent -or with still some impact on people's lives- history of doing that? Yes. Towards White Nations*? Big resonant no. Nor does any non-white culture. Conversely... yeah, you should know this.)
