cupidsbow: Valuing the Work in Fanwork - 've been thinking about why people outside of fandom seem to fundamentally misunderstand what fanwork is about, and why fans value it. It's puzzled me that people can't see at least the hypothetical value of it, partly because it seems so obvious to me; -
- iamsab: OTW, our fully furnished fannish city - I've always envisioned fandom as a kind of sprawling city -- certainly in number and in vocality we are as large and impressive as any subculture, with our own jargon, needs, values, and subcommunities -
- queenzulu: Hi fandom I love you.Scalzi's blog post and all those arguments...they're not going anywhere[...]and that's infinitely frustrating. But on a meta level...isn't that an awesome discussion? Isn't it beautiful how we're all just...telling each other our stories?
