  • laurashapiro: SF Chronicle on Kirk/Spock "bromance" - I appreciate that the writer's definition of "true bromance" requires the involved parties to place their concern for one another, without exception, above any concern for women. I consider this to be practically part of the definition of slash -- or at least a very effective barometer of slashiness -- while at the same time it bugs the shit out of me. -

  • elke_tanzer: I think this must be "Boston". - I know a huge number of women whose daily journal-writing catches my attention and draws me in and inspires me; I want these women's thoughts and expressions in my mental space. These are women with whom I can imagine my silver-haired self settling down in a circle of single-occupancy cottages with, around a central courtyard garden with adjoining library/media/meeting room. -

  • [livejournal.com profile] dashakay: Let's Talk About Smut, Baby - Almost ten years ago, I read a lot of threads on various lists and message boards about smut—what works, what doesn't, what is clichéd, and I decided to do write some advice about writing smut. -

  • yourlibrarian: [in sim_studies] Tracing usage - All of which is to say, in what ways do we see the wider media grasping the elements of fan fiction in its more traditional sense, and where is it being broadened or applied in rather different ways? -
