- melannen: Good Things Come Out Of JF too! - ...for the past two years I have been journaling almost entirely on journalfen.net rather than on livejournal. This gives me a really upside-down perspective about all of the hand-wringing going on about the TRAUMA of moving to Dreamwidth, let me tell you. So, as one of the couple dozen people who blog primarily on Journalfen, I want to share my perspective on migration. -
- jassanja: Cozy Migration Problems - Is it a new start when you only move if all of your friends do too?//Can you only feel cozy on DW if you have the same communities with the same name and maintainers? -
gossymer: DW Profile and circle lists - My perfect profile would have relations listed in this way: -
misscam: On female character and fandom - with woes, icon maker wanted, flu worries and no to naked hiking - Now, I'm not saying you must love all female characters or be sexist. There are characters I don't like, or are indifferent to. But I do think that sometimes, it's good to consider your own motivations and what prejudices might linger in you. -

- forthwritten: steampunk: my issues, let me show you them - In celebrating the figure of the adventurer and explorer, steampunk buys into certain assumptions. One: that there are places to explore and discover - the idea that a land can only be discovered by your culture, and has been previously unexplored even if people have been living there for centuries. -
- naraht: Steampunk redux - Deep down, or perhaps not so deep down, there's a sense in steampunk that having an empire must after all have been rather fun. Perhaps for a few it was. And somehow people are still being persuaded to join in the fantasy that they would have been one of the privileged few. -
pandarus: Words, Words, Words - 'Cause I am presently coming up against the belief that Slash stories are inherently more sexual than Het stories, and it is boggling my mind. That a story could still be considered Gen if it happened to tangentially mention, say, Buffy/Giles just in passing, but that if the same story instead mentioned Buffy/Faith in exactly the same manner it would be considered Slash.//I am trying to parse this in a way that is not, essentially "Gayness = Teh Sexin'! Ew!", and that does not smack of homophobia. But I'm finding it quite difficult. -
troubleinchina: Fandom & Disability: Joan of Arcadia - This what portraying disability in a "positive" light looks like to me. Making Kevin totally cool with everything that had happened, ignoring the way that families heal after sudden and unexpected changes, would be dismissing the realities of so many people. -
