  • [livejournal.com profile] chopchica: WARNING - Yesterday, I went to megaupload to download a new Merlin vid. I've downloaded from megaupload a billion times and never had a problem but yesterday, I immediately ended up with the Virtumonde/Vundo trojan horse on my computer -

  • [livejournal.com profile] thingswithwings: a few words on warnings - But for now, here is a post about why I like warnings, including a little story about me not being warned IRL and feeling betrayed by it, because my sensibilities are formed by fandom -

  • [livejournal.com profile] puritybrown [in [livejournal.com profile] blush_squick]: Pinning it down - [...] I'm much less likely to be squicked by a fictional character's misfortunes if they're depicted in a cartoony, unrealistic way. The more human and real the characters, the more painful it is to see them humiliated. -

  • [livejournal.com profile] tacky_tramp: "Fan fiction contest" my ass - Oh, AND when I enter -- not even when I win -- they get to use my identity in their promotions, as well. However they want. Again, par for the course in promotional contests, but again, it's the "fan fiction" label that bothers me. This is not how fanfic and fandom work, but they want to capitalize on our community for their own gain and put in all sorts of squicky things that ficcers might not expect and probably wouldn't like. Appropriation, much? -
