penknife: Headers, or the only way we have to judge a book by its cover - Fic headers exist so that people can decide whether or not to read your story, because there are too many stories in the world and not enough time. They are also extremely useful to people who want to link to your story elsewhere -- for instance, in a newsletter. If your headers are missing, incomplete, or look strange, many people will just cruise on by instead of ever giving your story a chance. -
apetslife: this is what kept me from sleeping last night - Please stop, because one bad deed does not justify another. Please stop, because fandom is already too paranoid. Please stop for all those reasons and more, and because we are innocent until proven guilty, even in fandom. There's a lot of power and a lot of temptation in being given those IP addresses; what if one of them is just CLOSE to someone who has a really bad 'fandom reputation' and who you think might do such a thing? What then? -
sasha_feather: Disability in Battlestar Galactica [SPOILERS] - It's refreshing to see a science fiction show with disabled characters that aren't magically or instantly healed, aren't around for one and only one special episode, and are human, main-cast characters that aren't defined by their impairments. When the disabled characters are on screen, they are not only there to serve the purposes of able-bodied characters. -
chasingtides: Wheelchairs and Shotguns: Handicapped Other in Supernatural Fandom - The authors and the readers don't bother to try to understand what it means to have a disability - to need to choose between exercising or going grocery shopping today, to choose between pain meds and watching the news, to wait for interminable hours in doctors' offices, but to also live lives and work jobs and have families and hobbies and interests. -
havocthecat: Why should girlslash be more like boyslash? No, seriously, why? - Femslash isn't boyslash, and that's okay. -
