murklins: Newslettering in a Post-Strikethrough World - a lot more fandom newsletters are cross-posting to InsaneJournal and other non-LJ sites these days, and I want to know how you're all handling it, technically. -
theorynut: [in fandebate] Gender and Fan Culture (Round Thirteen): Anne Kustritz and Derek Johnson - Repeatedly I've found myself reading works in the academic and journalistic press only to realize that when the author explains that fans do, say, buy, or consume in one or another way, he or she simply isn't talking about "my fans" at all -
jdbl: thinky thoughts about gender in writing - I don't really mind the supporting character thing. I think to a large extent, Zoe and Scully have taken Mal and Mulder's missions as their own agenda. -
baraqiel: Sooo who's up for some really personal questions? - This whole LJ/SA thing has been making me think about sexuality in general and in fandom specifically, but before I write some more meta about it, I want to collect some data. Ergo, a poll. -
b_hallward: Rec, but really an excuse for meta: the Anti-Fixit - It's the jerk at the end of a rope, the sucker-punch after you've let your guard down--and you have no defense because all the story is doing is reminding you of some quality of character or society or the world that you'd much rather pretend isn't true. -
