thedeadparrot: I thought I didn't have more to say on this issue, but apparently, I was wrong - Fandom is a giant karaoke bar. -
cqr: [in thisthingwedo] Female characters in male-slash fiction. - Because in my slashing experience, female characters are regarded as being the natural enemy of blokey-love and/or the author is doing a nasty Mary Sue. Even in femslash, another original female character has a tendency to cause squick. -
partly_bouncy: [In fanthropology] BandFic history - This is mostly a link to a draft of an essay I've been writing on BandFic history. I've gotten stuck in the 1960s for a variety of reasons. One reason is that I can't find the research I need to complete the 1960s. -
pfeffermuse: [in life_wo_fanlib] FanLib: Contemporary vs Classic Fandom - One issue I haven't seen raised concerning FanLib -- though I haven't read all the meta, and it's doubtful I could -- is that it offers nothing for fans of classic media. -
yourlibrarian: I'm sure it happened before Spike - a few posts back subterrain prompted me to talk about how Sam and Dean get written in SPN. And Iâd noticed after a few months of reading SPN fic that I seemed to be seeing the Spike effect all over again. -

sailormac: They're BAAACK! - Seems that everyone's least favorite LJ-disrupting right-wing nutjobs are back, and this time, they're harassing publications who use Google ads to promote their Web sites (in case you don't know, I work for a travel agent publication) -
wedes: Hey. - I used to think that when Gibbs kissed Abbey on the cheek it was flirtatious. But it's not. He would never kiss Tony on the show, much as I might like for that to happen. And that's just one of a million tiny little things that make up the stew of white m -
windtear: [in fanficrants] Er... - I'm reading a story where the characters are all OOC and the situation is straight out of a soap opera or teen flick.[...]And yet I am reading and enjoying it, even looking forward to the next cliche-ridden chapter[...]How does one approach this in review -

sageness [in ds_workshop] Dropping Hints: keys to effective foreshadowing - The key to good foreshadowing is that it feel organic to the story. The introduction of important objects[...]must be a natural part of the story's unfolding. -
copperbadge: Okay, here goes. I'm terrified.I wrote t - Whenever something society-changing is in its infancy, these little waves of backlash always occur. [...]What I did not expect, in terms of anti-internet backlash, is that the complaints would now be coming from writers, people who live and die by words -
docfraiser8: omfg. damn boxes again. CLICK!!! please?!?!! - Maeve's Almost Slightly Comprehensive Fandom Fic Poll, Part 1 -
obakesan: promotions-- - That's what's so great about fandom for me--the fact that always, always there are at least two other people interested (heck, one would do) and that they would cheerfully join in whatever project, doesn't matter who started which. -
ithiliana: Writing, Responsibility, Naivete, and Ego - Anybody who believes that their actions were caused by a text needs to be evaluated by mental health professionals.//Anybody who believes their writing will cause somebody to do *anything* is suffering from major ego. -
