mardia: Thoughts on Television Without Pity... - I've read a lot about fannish entitlement and TWoP, and it's a tricky subject, because hey--the PTB listening to too much fannish imput can be a really bad thing. -

liviapenn: Defining characteristics & metaphor AUs vs. alternate timelines - I think, in general, the appeal of an AU is taking characters and putting them into different situations, but *not* changing their defining traits, and then seeing how the familiar characters act in an unfamiliar world or situation. -

alixtii: Conceptual Analyses of Fanfiction, and Why They Don't Work - what I really find interesting are the places in the comments where fans question the criteria for inclusion into the list, by putting forth some defintion of their own of fanfic[...]and explaining how Professionally Published Work A doesn't fit into that -
