Q n A - There are some things I've been curious about, when it comes to females and the comic industry. So I've created a quick questionnaire to answer some of the things that, as a male, couldn't answer myself..

Discussion: Objectification - A friend of mine (a vegan, earth-lovin', liberal, anti-capitalist, hippie friend of mine) recently started a group on Facebook called the "Society for the Non-Objectification of Lesbians."...// I do not think that being viewed as an object of lust/sexual attraction/whatever is degrading. In fact, if men can accept so-called "lesbianism" isn't that a step forward for homosexuals in general? I think so. I think that anything that acknowledges nontraditional sexualities is a good thing.

Why is there so little geeky academic discussion of femslash? - Seriously, the "why do we write slash? what does it mean for feminism? blah blah ad nauseaum" discussion goes around fandom what, every week? Where is that for femslash? I don't think femslash is as simple as "lesbians like reading about women!"

love of two is one - I wish I could explain it, because for me to be fannish about a text, I almost always have to have a ship about which I am, not to put too fine a point on it, batshit insane. For me, it's not an intellectual choice, it's a visceral response to certain relationship dynamics that almost never fail to ping, and which have nearly always pinged.

Cranky fans - It seems like it is only in recent years that fans feel like they have a say in the creative direction of the show.

the f'list is wise - It seems to me that fandom lj f'lists give marvelously wise advice to RL problems. Have you noticed that? People come to their f'lists with all sorts of questions, issues, problems, crises and the aggregate advice tends to be spot-on imo. Why is this?

Meta-ness - Does the possibility of the author's return comment affect if you'll leave feedback for a story?

B.O.R.E.D. - What if there was a community where you could post your fic and your fellow readers could read and offer con crit without any one feeling hurt or beaten up on.

What do you do when - You look at some of your WIP stories (dating back a few years), or indeed completed stories at a pre-edit stage, and realise that your style, your way of writing, your way of thinking (not about the characters, but about the way you write) has changed so dramatically since you wrote them, that they almost make you wince?

How to be Attractive - When I started trying to write smut, I wanted very much to: a) portray my characters as attractive, and b) have their attractiveness reflect my own tastes, rather than received expectations. I realized soon that to do this, I needed to resist the temptation to describe my characters in terms of their difference from the norm.
