This is my letter to the world... Having a post of yours linked from [info]metafandom is like throwing a party in your LJ. In fact, it's the introvert's ideal way to throw a party, because you only have to send out one invitation, and you don't even need to know anyone in order to do it.

Where are all the fans? Thoughts on LJ, yahoo lists, zines and usegroups So, my question - where are all the fans? Everywhere! ... It’s just that I’m amazed at the sheer number of venues people can participate fannishly these days.

Bodies in fanfiction re the male bodies and male characters in fics used to transgress limitations assigned to a female body? One of the reasons I like slash is that male characters, particularly their bodies, are remote from my experiences: when identifying with the character, it’s easier for me to imagine being a man than being a different kind of woman.

What's too far in fandom, then? here's my question - what is too far in disagreements online? Where do you draw the line at Fighting For Your Ship/Favourite Character/Version of Canon? How easy is it to form little vendettas online and drive them too far? [CSI]

A plea to fanfic writers LJ has a great feature that allows you to track a user's posts by tag. So my suggestion to fanfic writers of multipart stories and series is to tag all the parts of your story (at your own journal, not in the comms, which have their own tagging rules) with a unique name for that story/series (not "torchwood" or "fanfic," but "series title" or "WIP name").

META : Who's on Top? I posted this yesterday while thinking about discussions about anal sex and characterization in slash fiction, such as the metafandom discussions here and here. Although I didn't explicitly mention anal sex in the post, I suppose it's implicit in the subject of heterosexuals' confusion over gender and roles in gay men's relationships
