Fandom Meta

[livejournal.com profile] kalpurna - Power dynamics and anal sex, whee! I guess what really squicks me is when characterization *is* the fantasy, instead of supporting a story about two real people *playing* with fantasy, or thrust into a fantasy situation By Means Of Plot.

[livejournal.com profile] pearl_o - In conclusion, I like slash. Because if we mostly agree that being the receiving partner in anal sex doesn't make you the "woman" or the "sub" or the weaker person, then doesn't it follow that it's still true even if you always prefer to be the receiving partner? It's totally possible to write a relationship where one guy is always pitching and one is always catching without that becoming the false power issues Kalpurna talks about in her entry.

[livejournal.com profile] fireball_says - Blah Blah Blah Why Are You Still Talking? Is you, or someone you love, suffering from an addiction in which they constantly crave the approval, acceptable, and, above all, the attention of others? Sufferers from such an addiction are known as attention whores.

[livejournal.com profile] alixtii - Thoughts he problem with lumping both femslash and m/m slash under the same "slash" label isn't only that somehow femslash always seems to end up dropping out of the discussion altogether (no matter how much some might protest that they really do mean both brands of slash), but that the grouping just plain doesn't make much sense.

[livejournal.com profile] teaphile - Criticism vs. Negativity I do my share of critical thinking when it comes to any show or movie, and I do see the bad and I do point it out without getting my back up about it. // However, there's a big, big difference between being critical and being hateful.

[livejournal.com profile] mofic - Where Does Humor Come From? hat I'm trying to do here is come up with a kind of taxonomy of humor, and then apply a few humorous moments from my fiction to that taxonomy.

[livejournal.com profile] partly_bouncy - CSI: The Review Factor While we had various meta discussion regarding the social implications of feedback, one question came up was what were some of the reasons people gave reviews? What were contributing factors? My meta analysis of late trends towards statistical analysis so I went that route. What relationships exist between the number of reviews a story recieves and other measurable factors? The best place to conduct such an analysis is on FanFiction.Net where basic data is readily available. The fandom that I chose to examine was the CSI fandom because that is where I am fannishly.

[livejournal.com profile] sistermagpie - My "in character" is your "wtf?" It just struck me yet again how "in character" is almost meaningless description in fandom.
