[livejournal.com profile] furikku in [livejournal.com profile] fanthropology: The internet is for... ah, you know... It may just be my choices of fandom or venue, but it seems to me that nowadays, fandom is more about 'shipping- specifically, the porn- than it used to be.

[livejournal.com profile] shadsie: Canon? A set of ambigious lines that can be interpreted in a variety of ways does not make a ship "irrefutable canon."

[livejournal.com profile] shay_renoylds in [livejournal.com profile] fanthropology: [untitled] Would writing fic about the fic writing process be way too much beyond meta? I'm not talking self-insert style, but just a fictionalized discussion of the fan fiction writing process. // Which fandoms would suit that style (or would it even be relevant)?

[livejournal.com profile] serpentclara: Fandom Politics Poll This time, I'm trying to determine whether there is a correlation between people's choice of fandoms and OTPs and their political preferences.

[livejournal.com profile] worldserpent: embarrassing fandoms? Would someone really be so embarrassed to like something that they would go through the trouble of creating a sockpuppet to hang out with other fans? I just can't see this. What in the world would be so embarrassing? I mean, not talking about it in terms of the general public, but other fans.

[livejournal.com profile] vegetariansushi: fannish quadrate The popularity of SGA is something that I've thought about a fair bit. I'm not sure that I have an answer, exactly, but I have, now, sort of a theory on some of the contributing factors to the overwhelming fannish popularity that some shows reach almost instantly and others never quite make.

[livejournal.com profile] dangermousie: Veronica, Battlestar and Real People Shipping Phenomenon [My Girl; note, BSG spoilers for 3.03] I am really taken aback and surprised by the huge amount of RPShipping going on in there.....// Is the line between entertainment and reality thinner there? Do people have different norms? (In most non-Asian fandoms, RPF is regarded as a bastard cousin you never admit to the house, or if you do, it's at the dead of night).

[livejournal.com profile] teaotter in [livejournal.com profile] yuletide: Advice, please? Looking at it now, the source material seems too -- I don't know. Well-planned? Self contained? -- and I'm having a hard time finding a spot I'm comfortable setting a story. // How do you break through that "maybe I shouldn't play here" feeling and start writing fiction?

[livejournal.com profile] monanotlisa: Question for the ages. Or maybe just the fanfic readers [T]ell me, if you wanted to convince a mundane that fanfiction can be better than original fiction out there on the market: Which piece of fanfic would you make the other person read strongly suggest as an eye-opener? Bonus question: Why?

[livejournal.com profile] ignipes: a question, a pimp, a squee What kind of recs are most likely to get you to follow the link and read a story?
