[livejournal.com profile] roslynsmuse - Monoculture or LJ v Listserve The lists serve to restrict the field of discussion and story definition/submission. This can be a real attraction to the individual who strongly compartmentalizes their interests, particularly when those interests seem far afield from RL endeavors. It also holds attraction for the technophobe in me as well.

[livejournal.com profile] musesfool - what it is ain't exactly clear And the thing is, yeah, as a reader, I like pairing labels, because they help me find what I want to read and avoid reading things I don't want to read. // But here's the thing: sometimes the pairing is not ... hmm... I don't want to say not important, but it's not the point...

[livejournal.com profile] trobadora - Pairing labels? See, for me, pairings are all about characterisation. // And unless I know the author very well, pairings contained in a story tell me a lot about the author and her view of the characters.

[livejournal.com profile] fairestcat - The reccers is watching you So, here's one of the things I've taken to doing with the notifications system. // When I rec fic I've taken to clicking the notification button to watch for comments to the story corresponding with or referencing my rec.

[livejournal.com profile] destina - A little Thursday meta: why Wincest? What's interesting to me is how I went from being a gen fan of the show to being someone who really does buy the fan-fictional Wincest in certain circumstances. I almost didn't post this, because I feel kind of weird about it, but there are questions I've asked *myself*, and so I've tried to answer them here. [SPN]

[livejournal.com profile] isiscolo - brain or bits? Genderfuckswappery! [POLL]

[livejournal.com profile] marginaliana - Naming conventions in fanfic Just a little idle curiosity here. How do you writers work it when you have a canon from one character's POV which leads to certain naming conventions, and then you're writing from a different POV? [POLL]

[livejournal.com profile] thelastgoodname - On Categorization Are people in fandom more concerned with categorization than people on average?
