Fandom Security - I helped a college student from a religious family set up her "security" to keep her parents out of her slash (and before you ask, no, she had no interest in abandoning her religion, she just felt her interest in slash fanfiction was irrelevant). 4 Basic Story Types - So, I've been re-reading the book
Characters & Viewpoint by Orson Scott Card from the Elements of Fiction Writing series. In chapter five, he defines four types of story: Milieu, Idea, Character, and Event (MICE); though he allows for some fluidity between the types of story, his view is that the characteristics of one type are (or should be) always dominant in a particular story, and that the dominant story type determines what readers expect from the writer, particularly in terms of characterization and the resolution of the story.
