2005: queenitsy: Slash, Sexuality, and Society: "This started out as an attempt to explain why I slash and why I like it, but as I wrote it I realized I had more to say. This is not just why I like slash, and why I see slash in most forms of entertainment, it's also a pouring out of thoughts about slash and society."

[livejournal.com profile] damned_colonial
2005-03-26: damned_colonial: Queer het (fanfic meta): I'm having thinky thoughts about het written by slashers, het relationships depicted in otherwise slashy stories, etc

[livejournal.com profile] executrix
2005-03-26: executrix: It's My Party I'll Transgress If I Want To: I do find fandom, and particularly the erotic writing and other fanworks, to be empowering to women, because I think it's valuable for women to get in touch with what they find arousing in fiction or images.

[livejournal.com profile] privatemaladict
2005-03-25: privatemaladict: Constructive criticism: not always constructive!: Good con crit points out flaws in your writing, but does so in such a way as to still make you feel good about your writing and encourage you to improve.

[livejournal.com profile] tanacawyr
2005-03-25: tanacawyr: Author intent, art, and filling in the gaps: I'm the first person to say that a lot of fanfiction is there to "fix" problems. Hell, I'm in a fandom that lives and dies by the AU, so I'm perfectly prepared to say that. But that's just too simplistic

[livejournal.com profile] blacksquirrel
2005-03-26: blacksquirrel: Some thoughts on celebrity and Clickable People. And: I remember when *everything* fannish used to give me a delicious transgressive thrill, but slowly, one by one, my inhibitions fell by the wayside, leaving the cynical, multi-fandom slut y'all know and love today.

[livejournal.com profile] deathisyourart
2005-03-26: deathisyourart: Rant, ramble and laugh: I understand that networks are concerned with the loss of viewers to the internet and blaming downloading is a lot easier than realizing that your own programming is lacking, however, I think the networks will cost themselves viewers by cracking down on television downloading.

Fandom Specific

[livejournal.com profile] aishuu
2005-03-25: ship_manifesto: Tezuka/Fuji (Prince of Tennis): Indeed. TezuFuji is a pairing of possibilities and mutual need. It's easy to imagine the two being able to open up to each other as they don't open up to anymore. Both are very good at keeping secrets. Tezuka doesn't talk much, and Fuji tends to talk about inconsequential things.

2005-03-26: 13th_colony: Baltar, faith, Adama-vs-Roslin:
In an earlier comment, I said that BSG would lose a lot of its magnetism for me if it became a show about myths and prophecies. It's not just that myths lack pull for me personally; it's that, at its outset, BSG was about *people*.

[livejournal.com profile] kiaforrest
2005-03-26: kiaforrest: A Messenger who got lost?: How do you talk to someone who won't listen?
Might you send another in your place to speak in a language that's understood? Just a few thoughts on the 'going behind Adama's back and usurping his authority in military matters'

[livejournal.com profile] marzilla
2005-03-26: marzilla: SciFi Friday!: When I try to look any deeper, I end up confused and kind of depressed. Of course, it doesn't help that I'm definitely viewing this as a series finale, not a season finale. So all of my reactions are on two levels: the Fan Reaction and the Fangirl Reaction.
